Gastric Bypass
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery is a combination of restriction and malabsorption. The bypass is created by forming a small pouch from the native stomach. The small intestine is then connected to the pouch in Y-shape. A large portion of calories bypass digestion and a smaller portion of food produces fullness.
